:::This is a little late since their album came out in February, but I love them so much I just had to rave about The Lonely Island! If you know me, it's no secret that I have an insane obsession with Saturday Night Live, the greatest show in the history of television. I have *Lorne Michaels to thank for introducing me to my current comedic faves, The Lonely Island. Everyone knows my future husband, Andy Samberg, from the hilarious digital shorts that have been some of the funniest stuff on the show since he joined the cast in 2005, but he and his creative partners Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer (who write for the show and often direct/make cameos in the shorts) have been making comedy together for years. This is a comedy album that could actually be legit music you put on at a party - minus the absurd lyrics. "Jizz In My Pants" is a top ten song in Australia for God's sake! Great production, and even better comedy. It debuted at #1 on iTunes the first week and #13 on the Billboard charts!:::Not gonna lie though, I can do without "Sax Man." But besides that, the beats are hot, and the cameos are pretty fucking awesome. JT, T-Pain, Norah Jones, Julian Casablancas (who sings the chorus on the totally weird-but-hilarious "Boombox"), and NorCal rapper E-40. Hit up their MySpace page to listen to the whole thing!
:::The album includes songs from past shorts, like "Dick in a Box," "Lazy Sunday," "Natalie's Rap," "Ras Trent," "I'm On a Boat," and the aforementioned "Jizz In My Pants." This past week's SNL with host Seth Rogen saw the premiere of the video for "Like a Boss," my personal favorite. Check out the uncensored version and a few others below.....you're welcome.
