Breaking Every Record Imaginable

:::The Dark Knight showed no signs of slowing down. The Warner Bros. behemoth raked in another $75 million in its second week, which is a phenomenal amount for first week standards alone.

:::Step Brothers took in a very solid and promising $30 million, and will continue to bring in cash as just about every human on the face of the earth will have seen The Dark Knight. With a $65 million price tag, it will cover its costs and then some.

:::Not surprisingly,
The Love Guru is continuing to bomb! Costing $62 million, it has only made half that amount the SIX WEEKS it's been out! OUCH! It came in at #40 while, in comparison, What Happens in Vegas came in at #26. And the fluffy Ashton Kutcher/Cameron Diaz rom-com has been out for twelve weeks! Mike Myers needs to step it up a bit....

"How to Lose Friends + Alienate People"

:::Can't wait for this movie! It's like a male version of The Devil Wears Prada, with all the juiciness of the rich and fabulous, and all the craziness of magazine editors! Slated for release in October, it's based off of the book of the same name by Toby Young, a former contributor to Vanity Fair. So you know what that means! If Devil's fictional magazine and editirix were based on Vogue and Anna Wintour, then this one is a biographical tale of what it's really like to work for Graydon Carter at VF. But just like Vogue and its coutnerparts, I'd still kill to work for VF! They can bark orders at me all they want!

Kicking Ass + Breaking Records

:::Christopher Nolan's much-hyped The Dark Knight was beyond amazing, and exceeded all expectations! Absolutely PHENOMENAL. Now, it's definitely not your average comic book fare - which is exactly why I loved it so much! I'm SO not into the Spider Man and X-Men variety, and I'm usually wary of any of the big-budget Hollywood behemoths that take over summer theaters. I've never been able to sit through any of the superhero films; I was forced to see Spider Man 2 in theaters, and I thought it was awful [disliking both Toby Maguire and Kirsten Dunst doesn't help]. As for Batman, it would definitely have to be my favorite lot of superhero films, if I had to choose. I hadn't seen any since the Michael Keaton days, and those were pretty good [the stellar cast helped a lot in this case].

:::Deliciously dark and sadistic, this Batman felt the most real of any of the other movies and not like something you would take your kids to. Actually, you probably shouldn't take your kids to this one at all! The only tickets I could get day-of were for a midnight showing in Chelsea, so when I got home afterward at 3am I just passed out. That is NOT something you watch immediately before bed; I had nightmares about The Joker all night! Speaking of which, Heath Ledger was fantastic, and deserves an Oscar nomination. Maybe not the award, but definitely a nomination. I haven't had that much fun at the movies in foreverrr. Ledger somehow is able to make The Joker completely terrifying and hilarious at the same time. He provided most of the comic relief, as well as the startling jump-off-your-chair scenes. I didn't wanna leave! Besides the clear fantasy of the story, everything in the film seemed very real and gritty. Aaron Eckhart, one of my faves, was awesome. Though Christian Bale was and always is amazing, Ledger & Eckhart kinda stole the show. HOWEVER, Bale's hotness is matched by no one! I didn't see Val Kilmer or George Clooney as Bruce Wayne [or even Bale in Batman Begins for that matter], but it's safe to say that Bale is the best Batman, even better than Keaton.

:::
The Dark Knight has officially broken the records for all time biggest Friday midnight opening, biggest first day opening, biggest single day, and biggest 3-day opening weekend. This weekend alone has brought in $155.3 million, already reaching three-quarters of the overall $205.3 million that Batman Begins made in its entire run. Most of the records it broke belonged to Spider Man 3 (thank god, because I heard it was AWFUL!). Click here for more details on the film's box office shattering weekend from Entertainment Weekly.

:::I really wanna see
Batman Begins now, and I'm totally in the mood for some old school Tim Burton stuff too! But I think I'll hold off on the Joel Schumacher films....don't wanna ruin it!

CAN:::NOT:::WAIT

:::I've never seen nor have really wanted to see any of the Batman movies; but when I saw Heath Ledger in the trailer for The Dark Knight (BEFORE he died, mind you), I was blown away. And it was just the trailer! He's phenom, and I may even try to get tickets for the opening night. Did I mention Christian Bale is to die for? Two good reasons to go!

"STEPBROTHERS" OPENS JULY 25th!!!

:::OK, I know the last few Will Ferrell movies have all been the same, and that I'm totally bias [I mean I'd pay to see him read the back of a cereal box]. BUT, Stepbrothers looks hilarious! Will + John C. Reilly = comedic gold ["Shake & Bake!"]. The movie poster speaks for itself. Loves it!!!

"Transformers 2" in the Dirty Jerz

:::If you're in or around Princeton, keep an eye out for uber-hottie Shia LaBeouf and the gorge Megan Fox because they're in town filming Transfromers 2. A couple of my friends have trying to hang around on set and spotted the stars and such. Go try to be an extra if you're in the Dirty Jerz!
