:::Jesse Jackson, you've CLEARLY been an ass clown for numerous years, but I never really had a problem with you. However, you do NOT fucks with Barry! That's where I draw the line!

:::Watch as the Reverend intelligently and eloquently discusses his problems with Barack Obama's faith based initiatives while he is unaware that his mic is on.

Who Knew Jim Carey Was So Wise?

:::I've recently come to realize that I've lived much of my life based around various words of wisdom I've received from Jim Carey. Seriously! There are certain things he has said in different interviews over the past ten years or so that I have found to be very wise, and I literally think of at least one of these tidbits of knowledge at least once a day.

:::Here are the different gold nuggets of acumen I've collected from Ace Ventura over the past decade, paraphrased the way I remember them....

1997:::"When I was a broke, struggling comedian, I wrote a $10 million check to myself and dated it five years into the future. I gave myself a deadline, and carried it around in my wallet so that I'd see it every time I took money out. Of course, over time, it gradually became torn and decrepit; and right before Thanksgiving last year, I was offered $10 million for
Dumb & Dumber."

1997:::"My father was a jazz musician; music was his passion in life. But he gave up his dream because he had a family to support, and went the corporate route. After years of working for a company, he was laid off, and we were so poor that we had to live in our car for a long period of time. I realized from that point on that there's no such thing as a 'secure' job, and that you should do what you love no matter what."

2007:::"I really wish everyone could have the opportunity to became rich and famous, just so they could realize that it really doesn't mean anything or make you happy in life."

2008:::"I've been in a lot failed relationships, and I've realized that the only way to be happy with someone else is to be happy with yourself. Once I was content with just being by myself and enjoying my own company, I realized I don't need someone else to complete me. Now I'm in the best relationship of my life. But don't worry Oprah, I'm not going to jump up and down on your couch! I'm jumping up and down inside, though."

2008:::"I've come to realize how to change my thinking, and just be happy in the now. There were times when I'd spend two hours just thinking about someone I had resentment for, imagining what I'd say to them if they said this or that to me; that's crazy! Now if I'm thinking something like that, I'm conscious of it, I immediately stop, and I come back to be happy and content present moment. It's just not time spent wisely."

:::Funny that I heard all but one of these statements during his various appearances on Oprah over the years....gotta love Mama O! She's the ultimate wisdom-giver!

Arrested Development: The Movie!

:::Yes, yes, yes! The studio gods have been throwing this idea around for months, and they finally gave FOX's critical darling Arrested Development the green light! Lindsay, Tobias, George Michael, and Maeby are coming together with the show's writer/director Mitchell Hurwitz to bring the hilarious and far too underappreciated sitcom to the big screen.

:::No doubt the recent success of Sex & the City's jump to the theater has a lot to do with it; they're even talking about a Friends movie! What the shit! It's one of my fave shows of all time, and I would def pay to see the cast reunited, but do you actually think it'll be good? Whatever, I'll be there anyway. As for AD, I can't wait! Jason Bateman is phenom!

The Approval Matrix

:::One of my fave New York sections, they sum up the week with the brilliant and the despicable, high and low brow. True to form, it's hilarious and totally on point. Too small to see? Click on the image, or check it out here....

Coldplay:::VIVA LA VIDA OR DEATH AND ALL HIS FRIENDS

:::I've been waiting WEEKS to comment on Coldplay's fourth studio album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, and not just because it took me that long to write out the title. I downloaded "Violet Hill" and "Viva la Vida" as soon as the songs were available, and loved them like I do anything from Chris & Co. [though they weren't my absolute favorites]. Though I liked the last album X & Y, it wasn't as good as the first two [then again, what is?]. For some reason, it kind of has a foreign feel. [I know what you're thinking: DUH, they're British! But I mean like general non-western foreign.] More trippy, electronic sounds like X & Y that once again makes it sound a tad bit over-produced. I not-so-secretly wish they would just strip it down and make some simpler stuff that sounds more like the first two albums. :::LE SIGH:::

:::I refused to comment on the album until I really listened to the whole thing through and through, because my first impression of music often changes drastically after a few more in-depth listens and after really understanding the lyrics. Coldplay [like John Mayer] is one of those musical acts that ties in with my life emotionally, weaving whatever I'm feeling when I'm listening into the melodies. I know, music does that for most people; but regardless of how much I like/dislike their particular songs when it's new to my ears, if I listen enough during any one point of time, I like it more later on when I've separated myself from that period. Does that make any sense? Probably not.

:::Anyway, to quit my emo-rambling and sum up: it's growing on me. Still no where NEAR as good as A Rush of Blood to the Head or Parachutes though.

:::Listen to one of my fave songs off the new album, "Lost." Happy listening!
