:::Deliciously dark and sadistic, this Batman felt the most real of any of the other movies and not like something you would take your kids to. Actually, you probably shouldn't take your kids to this one at all! The only tickets I could get day-of were for a midnight showing in Chelsea, so when I got home afterward at 3am I just passed out. That is NOT something you watch immediately before bed; I had nightmares about The Joker all night! Speaking of which, Heath Ledger was fantastic, and deserves an Oscar nomination. Maybe not the award, but definitely a nomination. I haven't had that much fun at the movies in foreverrr. Ledger somehow is able to make The Joker completely terrifying and hilarious at the same time. He provided most of the comic relief, as well as the startling jump-off-your-chair scenes. I didn't wanna leave! Besides the clear fantasy of the story, everything in the film seemed very real and gritty. Aaron Eckhart, one of my faves, was awesome. Though Christian Bale was and always is amazing, Ledger & Eckhart kinda stole the show. HOWEVER, Bale's hotness is matched by no one! I didn't see Val Kilmer or George Clooney as Bruce Wayne [or even Bale in Batman Begins for that matter], but it's safe to say that Bale is the best Batman, even better than Keaton.
:::The Dark Knight has officially broken the records for all time biggest Friday midnight opening, biggest first day opening, biggest single day, and biggest 3-day opening weekend. This weekend alone has brought in $155.3 million, already reaching three-quarters of the overall $205.3 million that Batman Begins made in its entire run. Most of the records it broke belonged to Spider Man 3 (thank god, because I heard it was AWFUL!). Click here for more details on the film's box office shattering weekend from Entertainment Weekly.
:::I really wanna see Batman Begins now, and I'm totally in the mood for some old school Tim Burton stuff too! But I think I'll hold off on the Joel Schumacher films....don't wanna ruin it!
