Las Vegas' Bastard Child

“Atlantic City is one of the most disgusting places in the world. It’s like Las Vegas got drunk and slept with South Jersey and this is their bastard child.” Anonymous

:::My triumphant return to AC this weekend after almost a decade was DEFINITELY more fun than the last trip; no swimming in a beach with waist-high seaweed? Upgrade! Being of legal gambling age? Check! My first foray into gambling was in Las Vegas this past March, also a first trip since my 21st. AC doesn't hold a candle to Vegas when it comes to general fun [No open container laws? Heaven in the Nevada desert!]; but Vegas seems tamer when it comes to the actual gambling. Aside from the scent of Bengay and oxygen tanks, AC crawling with gamble-aholics! HUGE poker rooms with hardcore players [a friend of a friend was there playing all day and all night, because it's basically his career; the night rounds let him pray on the rich, drunk ld men] and a giant space with massive plasmas devoted to horse race betting! The Dirty Jerz does NOT fuck around!

:::The Borgata was actually really nice, and the ratio of senior citizens to people under the age of 65 was pretty good, too. Great pasta! We were at Harrah's for about 30 seconds; with exception to the hilarious bitter & senile woman at the black jack table (Auntie!), it was not cute. If you want less of a geriatric experience, hit up The Borgata.

:::Anyway, I've been 21 for less than a year, and I've already been to Vegas and AC in the last few months; I'm not much of a gambler [I would be if I had extensive amounts of money for recreational spending.....Black Jack and Craps are faves!], but it seems like all of my male friends are addicted. I'm more of a lights-whore myself, and a big fan of anywhere cheesy enough that it makes me feel like I'm in an '80s movie. Neon lights & Peter Cetera? Fantastical!

This
NYT article seemed appropriate for my weekend....
